Grist for the Mill

After years of playing together in the church band, Grist for the Mill was originally formed to entertain folks in nursing and retirement homes. We started with old-timey hymns and gospel tunes where the harmonies came naturally. Soon we were adding cowboy, country, folk, “Tin Pan Alley” oldies and a Christmas set to our repertoire. Regular members include Robert and Angie Tims and Terry Rayburn. If you are interested in having Grist for the Mill play for your event, you may call Robert at 913-302-5202. We wish you Godspeed wherever you may be headed and hope you enjoy the music!

Robert Tims started playing guitar when his graduate school roommate taught him three chords. He sings and plays acoustic guitar, electric guitar and bass. He enjoys playing and singing really old oldies, country, gospel, and cowboy music. Anytime you stop by, you’ll probably catch him with a guitar in his hands trying to remember the words to some old song.

Angie Tims enjoys entertaining, so singing along with Robert seemed like the natural thing to do. Harmonizing and keeping the beat, she enjoys most kinds of music, excluding the organ at the ball park. In addition to singing at church and doing musical theatre, Angie loves to garden. This time of year she is usually out back among the flowers in the company of Ducky Doo and Pete Moss.

Terry Rayburn is like an all-weather suit, ready for any type of music. Handy with acoustic, classical and bass guitars, mandolin and harmonica you can see why we wouldn’t want to be without him. He is an expert at music history and trivia and has written a great bluegrass song which we’ll be performing at SBR. Stay tuned for more songs from this talented guy.
